The Foundry

It's no coincidence the Foundry has been placed where it has. On the raised stone block along from The Artisans' Halls the Foundry has a network of small pipes under it that constantly circulate water both to keep the platform cool and in case anything should happen.
The focus of everyone's concern is the bank of a dozen forges and smelteries that pour our metal in all shapes and sizes at all hours of the day. Because of the size of the forges it requires so much energy to keep them lit they operate constantly, breaking only to change shift. 
These forges manage all the metal work across the city, as well. Because of their near monopoly the Forgemasters are well respected craftsfolk who can name their price for their work, knowing that it will be of the highest quality when it is delivered. Because of this they run contracts for the Covens to deliver weaponry and armour, for the city itself to supply building materials, for the myriad of traders and shipwrights that come through needing components custom made, and even the minting of currency.
