The Khanty People Ethnicity in The True Dark Ages | World Anvil

The Khanty People

The Khanty are closely related to the Mansi people. They speak a form of Ugric of the Uralic language related to the same root language of the Hungarians. They were in the southern Ural region around the Second Millennium BC before many moved to the northern region by about 500 AD. Similar in many ways to the Mansi in religious & societal aspects, though trapping is a major source of income.   One difference is thet some are rumoured to be in thrall of the evil that exists in the Dyatlov Pass & Kholat Syahki region but this is unfounded at present. Like any small group, most other indeginous peoples & outsiders don't truly know or understand their practises.
