The Fishing Boat Inn Building / Landmark in The True Dark Ages | World Anvil

The Fishing Boat Inn

The Fishing Boat Inn is on the south coast of Britain near the Snow family manor. It is known to be a smugglers den but so far nothing can be proven for certain that the matron who runs it has kept her nose clean. It is in Weymouth on the road beside the river where it empties into the sea. It has been in the Attwell family for a number of generations all of who has had connections with local smugglers, pirates, and thieves, along with the Snow clan of High Elves.

Purpose / Function

The Fishing Boat Inn is run by Fleec's mother, and is used to cater for the local fishermen, and the sailors, of Weymouth. It is also a place for smuggling operations run by the owners.

Alterations

A hidden chamber lies below, and attached to the cellar. This area has been modified and strengthened over the decades to allow for bigger items, more people and heavier footfall to take place.

Architecture

The building of the Inn is heavily influenced by the local Celtic peoples and shows elements of Roman design, especially the mosaic of Bacchus in one part of the bar floor beside the fireplace. Slight elements of Anglo-Saxon design have recently crept in brought in by repairs made over the past couple of decades.

History

The inn has ben in the settlement of Weymouth for a number of decades now, and has been owned by a number of smugglers, thieves & pirates during this time. The current owners can trace elements of the family through this timeline and it is rumoured to have become an important part of the local Snow clan estate allowing for access to the local river and sea lanes.   The present owner is an elderly lady married to the present leader of the Snow family and it is likely to pass to her children at some point.
