Tax Collector

Tax collectors are found in most settlements, either travelling around a circuit of smaller settlements & the like, or based permanently in larger settlements. They are appointed by the nobility to raise taxes that are due to the crown. With smaller settlements and the like, they travel with an armed guard, and usually a strongbox to hold the taxes. They levy the taxes, and usually accept money, though in some cases will take other payment in equal goods of the specific amounts. In permanent posts they are based round the entries/exits to them, or in public meeting places like marketplaces, and follow the same method of either collecting money, or goods totalling the same amount.
