Large, muscular, half-bull half-human hybrids, minotaurs are dangerous powerful fighters. They originated from a single minotaur on the island of Crete, and have spread to neighbouring lands. Somehow, there is a number of these creatures in the world of Ravnica, and have lived there for a number of generations.

Minotaurs are notorious creatures, reminiscent of a bipedal bull. The original minotaur was the son of queen Pasiphae, wife of Minos, who was cursed to love a bull and gave birth to the minotaur as a result. The king had been sent a white bull by Poseidon to be sacrificed in his name, and the king kept it instead, leading to the curse.   Daedalus was tasked to build the Labyrinth in which the minotaur was kept. Seven youths & seven virgins were sent by Athens to Minos after they killed his son, and sacrificed to the minotaur. The Athenian hero Theseus managed to kill the minotaur, of which he succeeded in doing. Unfortunately this hadn't prevented the minotaur from mating already with some of the virgins, who subsequently gave birth to further minotaurs.   After a while the Labyrinth started to fall into disrepair, and with the region being prone to earthquakes & volcanic activity further damage was done. This allowed the minotaurs to escape, taking residence in other out of the way places in surrounding regions. Some were able to breed true, and a few captured local women to breed with. Most are barbaric beings delighting in carnage, destruction, and cannibalism. There are a few in time that fell away from this way of life, and with being outcasts regularly take up a life of adventuring away from others. They still have trouble fitting in and most find work as intimidating muscle, whether on a battlefield or as members of gangs.   Sometime the past a few made it through to the world of Ravnica, and eventually teamed up with guilds & groups that live there in that society. They nearly always fulfil the same as they do on Earth, and most are found in militaristic organisations. How long ago they made it to this world, or even how, is a matter of speculation. The minotaurs don't care though, to them they've always been there and show no sign of reducing in number.
