Horse Shoes

Although originally being invented by the Romans, the horse shoe had fallen somewhat out of favour until the start of the9th Century. It allows for better travel & use of horses for transport of both people & goods, at least in Europe and in the north even more so. The horse's hooves are more damaged & worn when not shoed, and allowed for faster travel over harsher terrain. The terrain is more rockier in the north so this aided any horse with horse shoes.
