Fishing

Fishing is a type of food gathering associated with bodies of water. Lakes, rivers and coastal waters are all fair game for peoples & settlements near these areas. The local fishermen regularly use nets, lines with hooks & bait, and tridents to spear fish. This takes in the gathering of other seafood like prawns and molluscs in some regions. Boats are sometimes used to get further out from the shore to shoals of fish, and lone fish, that prefer deeper waters. A rare few will try to get larger prey like whales, since a single one of these can be worth far far more than the same weight of fish. The fish in many cases are dried using salt, and/or by smoking to extend the shelf life. Sometimes they are sold fresh at coastal settlements. Many tribal and religious groups will eat specific fish and not others, while other groups will try to eat almost any fish they can catch.
