Celtic Warrior
The Celts were known for having a large military. Most of the free men would fight with swords, axes and/or spears, as well as slings and bows. This also included some women being able to fight too. Armour was rare and usually reserved by the warrior elite, and the nobility.
Composition
Manpower
Most of the Celtic free men were warriors who fought in loose formations. Any tribe had a large body of men to draw on. Most of the rest of the tribe would act like a baggage train behind the front ranks. Numbers of warriors varied wildly between region, clan and tribe.
Equipment
The warriors used basic survival gear, along with carrying a knife each to use as a general purpose tool. Sometimes a small axe was used instead.
Weaponry
The Celts used swords, axes, and spears as their main weaponry. They also would use knives and daggers as backup weapons. Many could and would slings, javelins, and bows as ranged attacks too.
Structure
The warriors would follow nobles, elite warriors and/or a king into battle.
Tactics
Many of the clans and tribes can use shield walls where and when appropriate, and will fight individually as necessary. They are capable of making siege weapons where and when needed though not up to the standard of other forces. They rarely use horses except as transport and only the nobility will use them as such.
Training
The children are taught how to fight from an early age and can use most weapons mentioned in some capacity. Most will have to fight one on one and kill an opponent to be achieve being called a warrior.
Logistics
Logistical Support
The whole tribe effectively goes to war so there is a massive baggage train behind the main battle force, with all necessary amenities provided.
Auxilia
They sometimes use Slavic or Germanic cavalry as auxiliary troops with not using such formations themselves. They regularly fight with Gnomes, Dwarves, and Elves as mercenaries using them as a central battle line for the former two, and the latter as archers.
Upkeep
They raid many different provinces for livestock and metals to provide them with plenty of rich income to support themselves.
Recruitment
The young are generally recruited into their armies when they can fight, kill and defend themselves.
