Candle makers / Chandlers
Chandlers make candles, usually out of a slow burning wick, surrounded by cow or sheep tallow. The chandlers also would regularly oversee the making of sauces, vinegar and cheese as well. The smell can be thoroughly unpleasant and it has been found that beeswax is better and sometimes used instead where possible. This though can drive up the price of the candles.
