Military Basic Hexagonal Module Item in The Trident Coalition | World Anvil

Military Basic Hexagonal Module

Whenever the Coalition Armed Forces established a military base, camp or help in a relief operation they lowered prefabricated modular units onto the planet's, or moon's, surface through a space fold, while the ship remained in orbit, or at a Lagrangian point.

There were many different types of modules, but the chief one was the hexagonal base unit. It’s a hexagonal structure, where the walls have large openings in them, leaving a floor, and a roof with six corner posts. The floor inside is divided into several sections that can be fitted with different inserts that contain the necessary wiring and technology for the various types of uses for the module. Different wall sections exist that to fill those six openings between the corner posts, as well as other pieces for joining several hexagonal units into a larger structure. A Command Center or an infirmary would typically be seven hexagonal units joined together.

With wall sections in place, or combined with other modules where the whole structure is closed the units can be pressurized and used in the vacuum of space, or on a world that doesn't have a breathable atmosphere. There are wall sections that have airlocks, as well as other airlock units with capabilities for docking with space ships.
