Lack of Navel Condition in The Trident Coalition | World Anvil

Lack of Navel

When Cloning Hardware is used to create a human being there is no umbilical cord between the machine and the human being that is the result, not in the way that there is in the natural womb of a human female. The being in the machine gets its oxygen and nutrients through a tube into its mouth instead. The lack of umbilical cord results in the human not having a bellybutton after delivery.

Since the use of artificial wombs has become increasingly popular a majority of the Coalition Population has this condition, to the point where some people have developed a fetish for sexual partners who have bellybuttons. It's not a life-threatening condition, or even affect the person's physical condition at all, there is nothing done to treat it. Lack of a bellybutton is considered normal.

An artificial bellybutton can be created through cosmetic surgery, but that is only available to Coalition Citizens who, for some reason or other, will spend an extended time on planet Earth and has to blend in. There are other places throughout the galaxy where the surgery is needed, for the same reason, to blend in and not be noticed as an outsider.

Transmission & Vectors

It's a result of gestation in Cloning Hardware and not communicable.

Causes

Cloning Hardware does not use umbilical cords, which is why the subjects don't have a navel.

Symptoms

Instead of a bellybutton, there's just smooth, uninterrupted skin... or sometimes hairy uninterrupted skin.

Treatment

No treatment is available. Cosmetic surgery can sometimes be used to create an artificial bellybutton, but only to people who needs it for undercover operations in societies that don't have, or know this condition is possible, like planet Earth.

Prognosis

It's a life long condition, that is harmless.

Prevention

Only real "prevention" is to be born the "old-fashioned" natural way, out of the womb of a human female.

Epidemiology

It's not communicable, and no risk of it becoming an epidemic.
