Accidental Sentience Syndrome
The condition known as Accidental Sentience Syndrome was first diagnosed when a careless technician sprayed the new super computer of the Aeolus Metropolitan Police with Nano-bots. The nano-bots got the idea that the computer wasn’t functioning properly, so they “repaired” it. This “repair” made the computer sentient and self aware, but the thing that terrified the technicians the most was that it developed a personality.
Since the event at the Police Headquarters it’s illegal to spray nano-bots into computer hardware, since they’re the cause of the condition.
Whenever someone points out that the initials of the name of this condition spells out “ASS” someone else will state that they don’t officially call it by just the initials.
