Thor succeeds in taming Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, the 'Lords of Goats', and takes them back to Asgard.

During a visit to Alfheim, Thor became enamoured of the Elvish Cavalry, since Asgard did not use cavalry in battle. Loki convinced Thor that the harder it is to tame, the more honorable the steed, and that Thor should therefore tame Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, the 'Lords of Goats'.

Although he quickly realised that Loki had been teasing him, Thor had already accepted the challenge, and refused to back down, spending almost a year returning regularly to Alfheim to continue his attempts to tame them.

He eventually succeeded in gaining their trust, and took them back to Asgard, although their rapport with him did not extend to other Aesir, and they caused endless problems. They were eventually released to live on the Plains of Ida, although they will come to Thor if he calls them.
