War on HYDRA
The campaign against Hydra in the 21st century. The campaign was lead by the Avengers, though NATO and S.H.I.E.L.D forces were also involved.
The early stages of the war were conducted in secret by S.H.I.E.L.D. on the advice of Tony Stark. Following the release of the Morse Papers, the general public became aware of Hydra's survival into the 21st Century, and the campaign became widely reported on by the press, particularly in the United States of America.
The final battle of the campaign was the Attack on the HYDRA Research Station by the Avengers, although this did not end the campaign. It is generally accepted to have ended with the assasination of Wolfgang von Strucker by Ultron.
Hydra survived the campaign, albeit in a weakened form, and continued to targetted by Intelligence Agencies, particularly the rogue factions of which survived the Disolution of S.H.I.E.L.D.
