Personal history
Gavven is the second oldest child of a Major Noble family. Eir family has been vassals of the Demon King all the way back to the time of the First Ascended King, Lavven. As such, they've held high-ranking positions in the court for over a hundred thousand years, and have dedicated themselves to Lavven's dream of a peaceful and prosperous Demon Realm. They have never, however, taken the seat of King for themselves. In fact, they have long believed their place was only at the side of the King - never the seat.
Gavven and eir siblings and cousins were raised to become advisors in the courts of every castle in the Demon Realm - since making a better realm means improving from all quarters. Originally, it was Gavven's older sister, Gnael, that was meant to take up a position in the main castle - Gavven was meant to serve one of the Greater Noble families in another city. E was quite happy with this, as eir favorite pastime was holding salons, which e would have much less time for if e worked in the main castle.
When e was still an adolescent, eir parent was attacked by assassins - and saved by a low-ranking castle guard named Gnori. To thank him, Gavven invited Gnori to one of eir salons - and ended up taking a liking to the loud, opinionated Petty Lord. The two formed a close friendship, though with Gavven's bubbly personality and Gnori's abrasive one, most found them odd friends.
However, when Demon King Ergirri nominated Jurao as his sucessor, the unimaginable happened - Gnael took part in the Royal Trials, attempting to stop this Ascension by becoming King herself.
The family was aghast - but Gnael insisted that a King that started as General and was known as the Beast of the Battlefield was not a King that could achieve Lavven's dream. Since it was in service to this ideal, Gnael was not disowned, but she and Gavven were swapped as far as location went.
Gavven was not thrilled by this turn of events - but e chose to make the best of it, interviewing for the one position e felt suited for - Head of Staff, because e just loves people. During eir interview, e apologized for eir sister's behavior to attempt to smooth over any ill will - and was surprised when Jurao expressed confusion at this. He wasn't sure why Gavven felt a need to apologize - challenging him in the Royal Trials was Gnael's right, there was no reason for him to be angry.
In this moment, Gavven felt strongly that Gnael had judged Jurao far too soon - and was more pleased than e anticipated when they were appointed to their chosen position.
