Cegae's Wrath

While Gevonar, the massive volcano in the southeast portion of the Demon Realm, is near always active, there have only been two records of large-scale eruptions in recorded demon history. These eruptions are referred to as Cegae's Wrath, after the demon God of Fire.    The first eruption occurred during the Birth of Kings Age, and the only surviving record of the event is in the Legend of Laesar - an ancient epic about the king would would found Gnoemesaroy. According to this legend, Laesar - in their quest to find a perfect place for a city dedicated to Aeganes, the Deity of Combat, stopped near the base of Gavonar. They challenged Cegae for the right to establish a city to another god at the base of his mountain, and the eruption was his vehement response - causing Laesar to concede and look for another location.    The second known eruption occurred during the Fractured Realm Ages - once more, a prospective king wished to settle in the shadow of Gevonar. The second king, Foumae, was a devotee of Cegae. Before building her stronghold, she built a temple to the Fire God and expressed her devotion while praying for Cegae to play his drums - heard through the small, frequent eruptions near the summit of Gevonar - vigorously. Incensed that a mortal would claim to desire the destruction his drumming could wreak, Cegae once more rained fire and ash from the skies.    Foumae, however, was true to her claims of faith - and her joyful dancing in the falling embers is said to have cooled Cegae's temper. He spared her and her city destruction at the last, calling upon Carmesso to bring rain and wind to wash the destruction clear.

Manifestation

After the snarling and hissing came a sound more thunderous than any strike of Mahen's hammer - it rattled my bones as a great cloud of smoke bloomed above Gavonar. As the sky darkened with it, then came the embers - red molten rocks raining down upon me. I did the only thing I could when faced with the majesty of Cegae's full strength - I rejoiced! For who else had the honor of basking in the Fire God's power but I, who had made my home near his mountain?   -King Foumae, writing of her account of experiencing Cegae's Wrath
