A demonic eel that lives in the rivers of the Demon Realm.

Anatomy

An eel with a long mouth full of teeth and a second set of eyes set on stalks above its first set. It has segmented armor plates like a crustacean along its back, and in the back of its mouth are powerful club-ended appendages.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lighteels reproduce via egg-laying, with a gestation period of two years.

Lighteels reach adult size in five years, and sexually maturity in ten.

Ecology and Habitats

Lighteels make their homes in the bottoms and sides of lakes and rivers, within holes between rocks.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Lighteels are carnivorous, feeding mainly on fish.

Behaviour

Lighteels lunge at prey, grabbing it in their strong jaws - their teeth angled to keep it from escaping. The club-like appendages within their mouth will then proceed to hammer the prey until it is unable to move.

Lighteel skin contains a toxin that can be distilled for medicinal purposes.

Due to their colorful appearance, they are believed to be the mortal descendants of Skyriver Lighteels - as such, they are often prepared as a meal or given as a gift to new homeowners to convey Vouscu the Hearth Deity's blessing.
