Overview

On March 15, 2026-the first anniversary of the Announcement Event-the Architect enacted her second major intervention: the restoration of magic to the world. This epochal event began with a mysterious gathering on the Moon and ended with the dawn of a new magical era for humanity and beyond.

The Gathering on the Moon

The Invitation

In the weeks leading up to the anniversary, the Architect’s Avatar appeared across the globe, inviting anyone who wished to possess magic to join her at an unspecified location. Those who accepted found themselves transported-by unknown means-to a vast, verdant field beneath an unfamiliar sky. Only later did participants realize they were standing on a newly terraformed region of the Moon, appropriated by the Architect for purposes yet unrevealed.

Opposition

The gathering was not without tension:

• Opposition: Many skeptics, protestors, and would-be saboteurs arrived, some carrying explosives, weapons, or even biological agents (a few coerced into doing so).
• Architect’s Response: The Architect neutralized all threats without violence or judgment-removing weapons from existence and curing the unwillingly infected. No harm was permitted, and the Avatar enforced a strict nonviolence policy among all present.

Freedom of Choice

Participants were given a simple choice. Stay or Leave. Any who wished to leave could do so, instantly and without consequence. Those who remained were guaranteed to receive magic, regardless of their motives or intentions. The Architect made no distinction between those seeking magic for noble, selfish, or ambiguous reasons.

The Return of Magic

Distribution

• Guaranteed Power:
  All who remained on the Moon received magic, their potential unlocked according to their natures.
• Variable Aptitude for Others:
  The rest of humanity received a spectrum of magical ability. Individuals with no magical potential are as rare as those with extraordinary power; most fall somewhere in between.
• Non-Human Recipients:
  To global astonishment, some non-human species-most notably dolphins-also exhibited magical traits, including the appearance of the Child’s Sigil.

The Architect’s Message

The Avatar spoke to the assembled crowd and to the world:

“The boundaries are open. Magic, bound but unbound, returns to your hands. Its use is yours to discover. Its cost is yours to bear. Create, but never unravel.”

No further guidance was given. The Architect enforced only the rules of nonviolence at the gathering and passed no judgment on intentions.

• Existential Safeguards:
  Magic cannot be used to directly trigger existential threats (e.g., global destruction, altering fundamental constants). Attempts result in instant nullification, magical inertness, and the appearance of the Null Mark .
• Cost and Consequence:
  All magic requires energy, drawn from the caster, the environment, or rare artifacts. Greater effects demand greater costs-physical, mental, or spiritual.
• Intent and Understanding:
  Magic’s form and limitations are shaped by the caster’s intent and conceptual framework. Schools of magic quickly emerged, but freeform casters with creativity and insight could achieve remarkable feats.
• Child’s Sigil :
  All children under 17 received a shimmering, prismatic mark that both protects them from deliberate harm and dampens their magical output. The mark fades at age 17 or is lost prematurely only through acts of true malice.

  The return of magic was accompanied by the sudden emergence of new magical plants, animals, and environmental effects. These phenomena became the subject of intense study and exploration.

• Salting Effect:
  Magical null zones formed around the crystalline salts left by the Architect’s earlier intervention, shaping the new magical landscape and acting as a check on magical escalation.

  The reason for the Architect’s appropriation and terraforming of the Moon remains unknown, fueling speculation and conspiracy theories.
