The Sickness--Also Called Murk
Back when the Rider of Murk roamed freely in the Thicket, there was a deadly sickness formally known as Murk (but called "The Sickness" by most of the Thicket Folk). It is characterized by the victim quickly decomposing. Fur withering and slowly falling out, eyes glazing over, and the body becomes weak, these are the signs you have come into physical contact with the Rider and the Sickness.
The sickness can spread to just about anything. The grass, the trees, the heart. It is deadly and I regret ever creating the thing. I saw so much destruction come of it. Me in my high tower thought I was only creating an interesting plot element, but what I thought interesting conflict proved deadly for my creation. It spread as wild fire and consumed everything it touched.
Its properties are that of an infection. It spreads by touch. Even stepping on infected ground will spread the sickness to the treader. It acts to swiftly eliminate what it touches, withering it and then turning it back to what it came from. It took my closest friends. It still haunts me to this very waking moment.

Wow this sound grim, we will need to call the radiant fires from beyond to cleanse this taint. Great read.
