"Well, Jordy, seems it was your turn last night."
"Mornin', Georg. It was, indeed. Who's your friend?"
"Some writer, been followin' me around since yesterday. Wants to "know" the place or somethin'. What's the damage?"
"Not too bad. One table broken, when he leapt from the bar to tackle Roxy, and five chairs. Most of the mugs could be hammered out, and I've already sent the kid for replacements. Roxy needed a draft to get back up after, but otherwise it was scrapes and bruises. Jeffey's downright pleased with himself - he actually knocked him to the ground! The puddle of beer they was standin' in helped, but the kid did get a shoulder check in that put him enough off balance that he went to the ground. Has the biggest damn shiner I've ever seen in exchange, but he's treatin' it like a medal."
"Well, I know we got the chairs, but Graham's place needed a bunch a tables the other day, and I'm not sure if we have any up and going. The mender's down in Sulae visitin' family, won't be back for a few more days."
"I'll just set out a barrel if I need one. He left this on the bar, if you want to add it to the pot."
"Yep. Willem's getting ready for a supply run. Need anything in particular?"
"Well, the wife could use another few bolts of that silk, if they have any."
"Sure thing. Looks like you've got the clean up in hand, so I'll let you get back to it. Let me know if anything else needs doin'."
"Thanks, Georg."
Georg left to return to the tavern, and I followed, hoping to get a better look at the absolutely enormous ruby that Jordy had turned over.
Demographics
Dunklewald is a haven for various species that have been pushed away from the Sulaen Empire and the Hill Clans. While the town has a plurality of humans, there are goliaths, dragonborn, nelwyn, daikini, kobolds, and orcans in significant numbers.
The profession of most people in the town is professional drinker. The town's ruler provides more than enough money to the various businesses in reparations to provide the people with comfortable lives, as long as they continued to indulge his whims.
Government
The government of Dunklewald consists of Guy Kruger, and what he wants at any given time. What he wants, for the most part, is to play with his copper dragon companion, Aerikartanan, to drink, and to participate in barroom brawls. He truly does not like outsiders attacking him or the people of his town, and he ensures that none do.
Beyond that, the tavern owners run an unofficial government. They collect the reparations, and ensure that the locals are taken care of, and those who participate in the economy are quite comfortable.
Defences
Guy and Ricky are the town's sole defenses.
Industry & Trade
Industry is supporting Guy's love of bar fights. He pays far too much for the damages he causes, and the excess is split among the townsfolk. They organize supply trips to New Sulae regularly to provide the goods needed in town.
Assets
The town itself has no assets other than the personal assets of Guy. Those assets are substantial, however. He spent a long time looting various tombs before settling down with Ricky, and he still has most of the treasures he gathered. He occasionally increases his personal hoard by looting invaders.
