The Dim
Way outside of Nostgard, behind the Sea of Sands, beyond The Deep, even outside of the The Terrable lies The Dim.
The Dim was thought to be impregnable, perpetual. Karl the Explorer sent thirteen expeditions, one after the other, into the mass at the edge of the world. Most of the crews did not return. Some did, but had lost their minds. The best psychomanamancers and entropycians studied them extensively. They discovered that the further into The Dim you travel, the steeper the degree of separation. The unravelling goes right down to the mathematical -- *numbers* stop working. No one has yet passed the number barrier. It is possible that it is impossible. The Dim is not, technically speaking, part of our *reality*. It is more of an effect. A transition between the world -- and That or Dead. It is estimated that The Dim outweighs The Terrable two to one -- there is more of The Dim than there is matter. And the ratio is slipping.
Travelers into the Dim are called Entronaut. The last voyage of the Flóki Vilgerðarson the Famed Trailblazer was into The Dim.
