There's no "magic" or "sorcery". Other sophant beings have different but finite sensory and other abilities from humans. Some humans have great talent in particular directions, skills, intuition, and so forth. But no X-men. We just have to muddle along being human.

Cosmology
There was this big BANG!, you see... a really long time ago. And star nurseries formed, and then stars, and sometimes planets, and so on and so forth. Then along came humans who needed to explain why things were so terrible sometimes, and why people die, and why it's all so damn' unfair, and they created belief systems.

Worlds vary.
