Kiaransalee

Kiaransalee

Kiaransalee is the drow lesser goddess of revenge and undeath. Though she does have her worshipper, the vast majority of drow on Faerun do not worship Kiaransalee, as knowledge of her has been supressed by worshippers of Llolth, who desires to be the sole diety over the drow.

History

In 1285, a censored book containing information on the Dark Seldarine, including Kiaransalee, was found by the drow Katya Sinaran in 1285. While Katya was beaten for reading the book, and the work was destroyed, the information within didn't leave Katya's mind.   In 1492, Katya's wife Emmeryn was killed during the Battle of Hardbuckler, as the two were fighting for the Cult of the Dragon. Griefstriken, Katya began worshipping Kiaransalee in order to gain the power to bring Emmeryn back to life, though Kiaransalee continued pushing for Katya to embrace her desire for revenge against those that killed Emmeryn. Katya was also unable to bring Emmeryn back to life, and though Kiaransalee knew it was because her soul was bound to Tiamat, she did not inform Katya of this.   During the Damnation of Elturel, Kiaransalee siezed upon Katya's turmoiled emotional state of the threat to the city and the revelation that Emmeryn followed Tiamat even in death, attempting to use this information to stoke Katya's hatred. Avernus' proximity to the Abyss also allowed Kiaransalee to talk with Katya more directly in her trances, using even the act of resting to twist Katya further. After Katya prayed to Torm twice in Elturel to help her friends, Kiaransalee, using the guise of Emmeryn, demanded a sacrifice, and Katya chopped off her left hand.   Despite Kiaransalee's best efforts however, Katya remained fixated on bringing her wife back to life, not pursuing vengeance. In addition, Katya kept finding herself drawn to Torm, even talking with Torm, shielded from Kiaransalee's view, in a grotto outside of the village of Triel. All of this culminated in Katya embracing worship of Torm during the Battle of Elturel, casting Kiaransalee aside.

Tenets of Faith

Worshippers of Kiaransalee are encouraged to seize power and pursue acts of revenge, either their own on on behalf of others. The majority of religious orders worshipping Kiaransalee are not organized, clustered in small cells that seek out their own ways to bring glory to their goddess.   Kiaransalee's belief in revenge extends so far as to prioritize it over justice or peace, and the most devoted followers of Kiaransalee become revenants upon death, never ceasing in their endless desire to ennact vengeance on those that have wrong her or themselves.

Holidays

The sole religious holiday worshippers of Kiaransalee celebrated was the Graverending, celebrated on Midwinters' Eve, where clerics of Kiaransalee attempted to raise as many undead as they could manage, imbuing the dead with enough power to seek revenge on those that killed them before the holiday ends.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

On Faerun, Kiaransalee ultimately aims to restore widespread worship of her across the many drow communities of the Underdark by finding individuals that align themselves to her worldview and turning them into agents of vengeance and tools by which she can spread knowledge about herself.
