Casimir Roe

Duke Casimir Roe

Casimir Roe is a current member of Baldur's Gate's Parliament of Peers and former member of the Council of Four during the Great Dragon War.

History

Casimir Roe was born in 1462 to Teramina Roe, who would become a Duke of the Council of Four in 1468. Teramina's heir, Roe was pampered and groomed to become the family's new matriarch. However, from an early age Roe displayed the meekness and indecisiveness that would plague him in the future.   In 1479, Teramina passed away in an unfortunate accident. Due to his mother's popularity, many political allies, and general sympathy, Roe was appointed a Duke on the Council of Four in her stead. From the start, Casimir was indecisive, often ruling with the majority and frustrating his mother's former allies.   In early Uktar of 1491, following Jessabelle Leonin's pleas for Baldur's Gate to join the burgeoning Council of Waterdeep, Roe was reluctant to vote one way or another, refusing to break the gridlock between the pro-coalition Ulder Ravengard and the anti-coalition Corrin Renault. Following the Baldur's Gate Uprising, Roe voted to join the Council of Waterdeep, now fully convinced of the clear and present danger they posed.

Roe continued his tenure as a Duke throughout the Great Dragon War, though he was running short on allies and supporters.   In 1493, Roe made a nearly unprecedented, and surprisingly politically astute, move when he announced his resignation from the Council of Four. He cited personal reasons for his departure, though all were aware that he truly left because he felt inadequate in the position. Roe's resignation gained him respect from his peers, who appreciated his self-awareness, and he has since settled into a more comfortable position in the Parliament of Peers.
