Urmag, The Spirit of the Land

Urmag is the god of the land and the home. He is also an advocate for personal strength, self development, and strong discipline. He provides represents the warmth of a home, and the strength needed to protect it, and takes the form of a large orange furred bear wearing armor made of hardened magma.   Urmag teaches his followers that the home is the most important thing in their lives. The home is a place of safety, warmth, and shelter. It is where one can rest and recover from life's struggles, and a source of strength in times of need. But just as the home is a source of strength, it requires strong individuals to protect it. Urmag teaches that a warrior needs to be both strong and disciplined in order to properly defend their home, and encourages his followers to spend time training and meditating so they will always be ready. Urmag sees a warriors role as one of defense, rather than offense. It is noble to protect your home from an invader, but becoming the invader and attacking someone else is to violate the sanctity of their home, and is wrong. Urmag is a supporter of quality craftsmanship, and uses crafting as a tool to practice discipline. In particular he favors the rhythmic pounding of metal that occurs in blacksmithing, and he is also a fan of obsidian being used as a material for jewelry and decoration. Urmag is generally seen as being representative of the earth itself, generally calm and slow moving, but absolutely devastating when angered.   Urmag was traditionally a god mostly worshipped by various Orc tribes, though his worship has spread throughout the world to a sizable number of people, and a significant number of Humans, Lizardfolk, Dwarves, and Ratfolk have found some amount of resonance with Urmag's teachings. Particularly individuals who live in colder climates appreciate the blessings of warmth and safety that Urmag brings. Followers of Urmag are rarer in major cities where the "home" can end up being a much broader concept, but there are a number of craftsmen who look to Urmag for guidance.

Tenets of Faith

Maintain your strength, and that of your weapons. Do not leave yourself in a state unable to defend your home in times of crisis. Practice, train, and improve. Do not let yourself grow complacent with your skills, or you invite unnecessary defeat upon yourself. The home is a sacred place, do not allow your to be sullied, and do not sully the homes of others.
