The Creation of the Goblinoids and the Rise of Gnakz

Before he rose to godhood, Gnakz was a servant to the deity Nodurog. When Nodurog fell to madness after the Great Sundering and began his attempts to destroy what remained of the world, Gnakz joined in with glee, but after his master’s attempts failed, Gnakz grew impatient. He thought he could do a much better job, and so, the next time Nodurog slumbered between rampages, Gnakz stole some of his master’s power to create life, and endeavored in secret to create his own race to conquer the surface and sow chaos.   His first attempt resulted in the goblins, and his them throughout sunken pockets of land to awaken and conquer the surface when the land arose. He enjoyed how quickly they spread, and their natural affinity for destruction, but in the end was unsatisfied due to their small size, relative weakness, and inability to wage a truly coherent war, so he abandoned them to the world, and began making a new race. His next attempt at creating his great destroyer race was the hobgoblins. They were bigger and stronger than normal goblins, and were overall more successful at forming into an army and wagging wars, but Gnakz still wasn’t satisfied. He found the hobgoblins too rigid and boring, they conquered and enslaved, rather than spread chaos and destruction, and thus Gnakz abandoned the hobgoblins, just as he had the goblins. Gnakz made a third attempt at creating his destroyers, the bugbears. The bugbears were the biggest, strongest, and best at killing of any of Gnakz’ creations. Gnakz was thrilled at his work, declared them his masterpiece, and decided that they should rule over all other goblinoid creatures. Unfortunately Gnakz soon learned that the bugbears did not work well with others. Gnakz was a creature of pride, incredibly full of himself and convinced that he knew better than any other. The bugbears shared in these traits, and lived as solitary creatures. They were skilled killers, but they each felt that they were the best at it, and refused to listen to others. This made it remarkably hard for them to truly serve as a tool to destroy all other life.   Gnakz sat, deep in thought, trying to figure a way to properly combine the best traits of his creations into the being of ruin he desired. Unfortunately for him, before he could finish his final creation, Nodurog Awoke from his slumber. Nodurog saw what his minion had been doing and was outraged. Instead of eliminating life, Gnakz had stolen power from him and used it to create more creatures. He banished Gnakz, and revoked the powers granted to him. Gnakz would have been destroyed, but the three races he had made worshipped him as their creator, even though he had abandoned them all. This supplied him with enough power to sustain himself independently as a lesser deity. The unfinished creation manifested into the first Barghest, which would serve as the primary minions of Gnakz. The Barghest were not truly the beings Gnakz wanted, but they had the ability to grow in power closer to what Gnakz wanted. Gnakz built his own divine realm, which he also named Gnakz, where he brings his worshippers who truly accomplished themselves as killers, and has them practice in an endless war to master battle. Lesser followers are torn apart, and used for Gnatz’s research into finishing his creation and conquering all. Gnatz knows he needs the power to create life to finish his plan, and so he waits, biding his time and building his power, until he can lash out against the other gods, and claim what he believes is rightfully his.
