Father Greengrowth, Old Man of the Forest

Father Greengrowth is the original treant and protector of the forest. He is known as an advocate for meditation and patience, and is also a fan of a good story. Father Greengrowth can manifest himself through any kind of tree in the natural world, but is known to prefer oak trees the most, and takes on that form as his tree of choice when not manifesting through a tree. Regardless of what kind of tree he currently is Father Greengrowth has the face of an older man with a beard made of moss or leaves.   As protector of the forest, Father Greengrowth encourages people to live their lives in harmony with nature. He believes that life in large cities is a pathway towards corruption, and that instead people should live in small groups cloistered in nature. He understands that lumber is a useful building material, but greatly prefers that people either make their homes from mud, clay, and stone or learns the druidic magic needed to make a home that does not require harming to forest. Father Greengrowth is known to love stories, and watches through the different trees to learn about different events in the forest. This is part of why he dislikes people cutting down trees, as they reduce the number of viewpoints he can watch the world through. The trees provide many different angles, but not all of the world can be viewed by trees. As a result, Father Greengrowth is especially interested in stories told by mortals, who can travel the world and see things outside of his reach. Father Greengrowth also uses the trees as a representation of a proper life. Patience and meditation are virtues, and just as the trees stand still so should people take the time and move through life slowly, rather than rushing through things. Trees are sturdy, strong, and reliable. They provide shelter and food. People should do these things as well. Give aid to those in need, and be reliable with your word.   Most followers of Father Greengrowth are forest creatures, such as other treants and various kinds of fae, druidic societies, and small, tribal societies that are connected to the forest. He is often acknowledged by rural communities, even if not directly worshipped, and many lumberjacks have learned to pay their respects to Father Greengrowth be careful about cutting down an ancient tree, as angering the forest can have dire consequences. There have also been several orders of monks dedicated to Father Greengrowth. There orders are dedicated to meditation, and inner growth, though they do also have a tendency to collect interesting stories for their god.
