Lindaphal

Lindaphal, also known as the Sapphire City, serves as the capital of the Stormclaw Empire and is home to a population of 80,000. Founded in 2388 BSC by the Arnish peoples, the city began as a humble settlement centered around a solitary church, earning its name, which means "church place" in Old Arnish. Lindaphal’s fortunes changed when it was granted to Stannis Stormclaw as a reward for defeating the Storm Titan, marking the beginning of the city's rise under House Stormclaw. Over centuries, the city grew into a thriving political and economic center, becoming one of the most powerful cities on the continent by the time of the Stormclaw Conquest. Today, Lindaphal is a bustling hub of power, culture, and influence, ruled by a Duke chosen by the monarch, with Matthew Duskin currently serving as its Duke.

Government

The government of Lindaphal, the Sapphire City and capital of the Stormclaw Empire, is largely controlled by the ruling monarch, but local governance falls under the authority of the Duke, who acts as the city's mayor. This position is not elected by the people but is chosen by the reigning King or Queen from among the powerful noble families that already wield significant influence within the city. With a population of 80,000, Lindaphal's leadership is deeply intertwined with the aristocracy, reinforcing the political and social dominance of the noble houses. The current Duke, Matilda Duskin, comes from one such family, and her appointment reflects the continued tradition of selecting nobles to oversee the city’s governance, ensuring loyalty and control remain aligned with the interests of the throne.

History

Lindaphal, founded in 2388 Before the Stormclaw Conquest (BSC) by the Arnish peoples, began as a humble settlement surrounding a solitary church. For years, this church stood as the only structure, and the settlement gradually became known as Lindaphal, meaning "church place" in Old Arnish. Roughly 300 years after its founding, the city and its surrounding lands were granted to Stannis Stormclaw as a reward for his heroic battle against the Storm Titan while riding his griffin. Under the rule of House Stormclaw, the city thrived, transforming from a modest religious center into a bustling hub of commerce and politics. By the time the Stormclaws embarked on their conquest in 3 BSC, Lindaphal had already become one of the most powerful and influential cities on the continent, setting the stage for its rise as the capital of the Stormclaw Empire.
