House Ishar
Culture
House Ishar retains a culture heavily influenced by their ancient fae heritage, blending the mystical with the natural world. Despite their current reputation for greed and vanity, they still practice many traditional customs, such as intricate burial rites and the annual Firstleaf Festival, celebrating the turning of the seasons. The Ishar people have a deep respect for the forests of the Noureen Wood, seeing them as sacred, and they are known for their skilled herbalists and forest rangers. While they once held nature in the highest regard, their growing desire for power has shifted some of their focus to wealth and influence, though they remain fiercely protective of their lands. House Ishar’s magic has largely faded due to imperial law, but whispers of old rituals and forest gods still echo through their hidden groves and sacred glades.
Assets
House Ishar commands a wealth of assets rooted in the vast and mystical Noureen Wood, granting them control over endless forests, fertile lands, and a network of hidden groves. Their seat of power is PineHall, a castle nestled deep within the woods. Though not the most defensible stronghold in the empire, PineHall is renowned for its breathtaking beauty, with elegant spires woven through ancient pine trees, cascading ivy, and gardens filled with rare flora. The forests provide House Ishar with valuable resources, such as timber, herbs, and wild game, contributing significantly to their wealth and trade influence. Additionally, their connections to numerous skilled herbalists and forest rangers bolster their economy and make House Ishar a vital player in supplying the empire with natural goods.
History
House Ishar traces its lineage back to the Great Fae Migration nearly 20,000 years ago when the fae houses settled in the vast Noureen Wood. For centuries, they ruled their woodland domain freely, cultivating deep ties with the land and its mystical secrets. However, their autonomy was shattered when they were subjugated by the coastal kings of House Karker, who dominated the region for millennia. During the rise of the Stormclaws, House Ishar seized the opportunity to regain their former power by siding with the invaders, ultimately liberating themselves from Karker's rule. In gratitude, the Stormclaws granted them lordship over the Noureen Wood, restoring House Ishar’s influence. Though much of their ancient magic has since faded due to imperial laws, House Ishar continues to uphold their traditions, blending their fae heritage with a newfound ambition.
