Mansa is the highest rank achievable in the Ebony Order.
Qualifications
Approval of 1/3rd of the order
Requirements
Defeating the current Mansa in a fight to the death.
Appointment
They must present the armor of the defeated Mansa directly to the king. After which a ceremony is preformed in secret and the king then declared them Mansa to the rest of the order.
Duties
The protection of the royal family and inner city of Alderon
Responsibilities
The Mansa oversees the daily operations of the order. They are responsible for forming guard posts and roving patterns along with selecting the royal families' personal details while they travel. They appoint the scouts that find new recruits and train them and have the authority to send the ebony guard anywhere in the empire.
Benefits
The Mansa is very well paid and has more political power than anyone in the empire except the king.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Besides being challenged by another member of the order and losing, the only person who can take the title away is the king. This has never been known to happen.
