Caldera Station
Caldera Station orbits the planet Mephistopheles, a highly volcanic planet in the Dante system .
Caldera Station is what is referred to as a free port. A free port operates under its own legal system as a sovereign entity within whatever political sphere it is located within. If you can’t defend yourself, it is strongly suggested that you hire security personnel for the duration of your stay.
The lowest level of Caldera station is made up of private docking bays. These bays open "down", and are filled with several clamping and docking devices to accommodate nearly any ship that could come to call here.
The next three levels make up the Main Concourse. The interesting aspect of this section is that there are several docking rings along the "inside" of the Main Concourse that link right to merchant stalls to ease the sale of goods by the small-time merchant ships that dock there. The center of the Main Concourse is a large open space that runs the fill circuit of the station. Filled with art installations, elaborate walkways between and across the levels, and other eye catching entertainments, it is usually quite busy. The "outside" section of the Main Concourse contains a variety of bars, restaurants, travel agencies, security agencies, and other services that any star-traveler may need.
Above that are the diplomatic and hotel districts. This is where many corporations maintain offices, and stellar ambassadors as well. Also the hotels are where any non-resident without a ship berth would spend their sleep cycles.
Near the top of Caldera station is the residence level, where the majority of the permanent residents live. Proper access cards are needed to enter this level. Entrants must pass through electronic and biologic security
The final level is off limits. There are no known entry points to this level from the lower levels. This level has its own docking rings. Close scans have shown hardpoints that have the look of weapons ports.

The merchant section of the main concourse is commonly called the Grey Market.
