Blade of Flowers

The Emperor's Blade

The Emperor's Blade, also known as the Blade of Flowers, is the ceremonial sword of the Emperor of the Celestial Empire.   The Blade of Flowers resides upon a special stand to the right of the emperor's throne, with the hilt end facing the emperor. The throne is in the Chamber of Justice, where those who, as a choice of last resort, call upon the emperor's mercy, are brought to face the emperors judgement. This august chamber is within the City of Silence, which is the Imperial residence and bureaucratic center of the empire. Only the Imperial Family and their Servitors can be found here outside of the Hours of Governance. Of course, the city is on the planet of Chrysanthemum, the very heart of the Celestial Empire.   The Blade of Flowers has been a part of the Celestial Empire from the empire's very beginning over a millennia ago. During The Long Dark, Chrysanthemum had fallen into a feudal planet of scattered warlords, each fighting for their own little slivers of power. The tellers of tales delight in sharing the legends of the founding;   One day, a man called Zen came to the court of a warlord, who's name is forgotten by history. Zen told the warlord that he could defeat any enemy the warlord chose. The price the warlord would have to pay for Zen's service would be that the warlord's daughter would marry Zen. The warlord chose his most powerful rival Borji, and sent Zen on his way. Zen walked towards Borji's camp killing all who tried to stop him with a single stroke of his sword. When he got to the rival warlords camp, Borji was waiting in a suit of ancient power armor. Borji laughed at Zen saying there was no sword on Chrysanthemum that could cut through his armor, and that he would crush Zens head in his gauntleted hand. Zen said to Borji, "Since my death is certain, would you allow me to take one strike at you before I die? So the tellers of tales will not let this day be forgotten." Borji agreed, amused by this foolish man. Zen spoke again, "This is the Blade of Flowers, it shall always protect Chrysanthemum from those who would destroy." Zen struck his one blow, slicing through the ancient power armor, and slaying the warlord Borji. And he continued slaying warlords until he united Chrysanthemum as one planet and became the first emperor Zen Tian.   Prince Suren, youngest of the seven sons of Emperor Talos Tian (1 R.E - 100 R.E.) would wield the Emperor's Blade during boarding actions against the aggressive Sargonian Empire. He would slice open airlocks with little effort, and his warriors would sweep over the Sargonians before they could prepare to repel borders.   In 843 R.E. (Reformation Era) the sword was removed from active service in the emperors name. It was installed in the Emperors Chamber of Justice, where it remains to this day.   In the early 1000's, rumors began circulating that the Emperor's Blade had been stolen and replaced with a forgery. The Servators of the Emperor have assured all that these rumors are unfounded.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The sword known as the Blade of Flowers is made from a super strong metal alloy from the Golden Age of Lost Terra. The secrets of it's making are lost to the ravages of The Breaking. The blade has a mono-filament edge, commonly referred to as a monoblade. Given enough force behind it, this sword can cut through any material currently known to the galaxy. There are rumors that the hilt has special properties as well, but there is no evidence for this beyond rumors.
