The Tarot Mistress
Background:
Veronique DeLambre is a dangerous and cunning woman who married Éléonore’s (the The Crystal Princess) father, a wealthy inventor, for his fortune and influence. Unbeknownst to him, Veronique was deeply embedded in the Psionic Syndicate, a secret organization bent on creating a world ruled by psychic supremacy. She and her daughters, Claudette and Amélie, were part of a villainous plot to secure power by any means necessary. Veronique orchestrated the assassination of Éléonore’s mother, the Crystal Enchantress, to remove her as a threat and to insert herself into the Cendré family.
Once married, Veronique slowly took over Cendré Enterprises, manipulating Éléonore’s father into a state of dependence through psychological abuse and gaslighting, gradually sapping his will until he was little more than a puppet. After orchestrating his "accidental" death, she seized control of the family’s wealth, leaving Éléonore, or Ella, under her brutal thumb.
Though Veronique feigned care, she subjected Ella to a cruel upbringing, using lies and emotional manipulation to suppress her burgeoning powers. Veronique's greatest fear was that Ella would grow into her mother’s legacy, which she sought to prevent by any means necessary.
Her villainous empire was ultimately brought down when Ella, with the help of her godmother Argentia, exposed her crimes. Defeated and stripped of her corporate power, Veronique returned to her roots in the Psionic Syndicate, where she now serves as the headmistress of the Secret School for Superior Students. This shadowy institution grooms and trains the next generation of psychically gifted villains, ensuring that Veronique's ambition lives on.
Personality:
Veronique is cold, ruthless, and fiercely intelligent. She views the world as a chessboard, with people as pawns to be manipulated for her personal gain. Her love for her daughters is warped, as she uses them to further her schemes without regard for their well-being. She has no qualms about harming others to achieve her ends and is deeply resentful of anyone who threatens her power—especially Ella, whom she sees as a living reminder of her failure to crush the legacy of the Crystal Enchantress.
Veronique thrives on control and enjoys breaking others emotionally and mentally. She prefers to work from the shadows, using her intellect and psychic abilities to steer events without getting directly involved. Despite her power and cunning, her arrogance often blinds her to her own vulnerabilities, and her downfall came when she underestimated Ella’s potential.
Her greatest flaw is her belief that she is untouchable, a belief that ultimately led to her defeat. Even after being exposed, she remains determined to rise again, using the Psionic Syndicate as her new platform to shape the future.
