The Glorious Groundhog

The Glorious Groundhog king of Crime mastermind of melodious malevolent malcontent and supreme supervillain! (Self Proclaimed) Eugene Horatio Butt (a.k.a. The Groundhog)

Background: Eugene Butt was always "that guy" in the local gaming community—a gatekeeper, a know-it-all, and a sore loser. Awkward in social settings, he was notorious for making others uncomfortable with his lack of hygiene, incessant corrections, and obnoxious attitude. Despite his negative traits, Eugene was highly intelligent, earning a degree in chemistry, but his social ineptitude prevented him from achieving much success outside his mother's basement.
Eugene frequented Geek to Go Hobbies in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he made a habit of annoying the other patrons, cheating at games, and generally being a nuisance. His delusions of grandeur reached new heights when he developed an obsession with The Vulpes, a new vigilante in Toronto. Inspired by his twisted sense of destiny, Eugene declared himself her natural nemesis, adopting the persona of The Groundhog, based on his misguided belief that groundhogs were the perfect counter to foxes.
Eugene’s decision to become a supervillain was fueled by years of perceived slights and rejection, both social and romantic. In his deluded mind, the world had failed to recognize his genius, driving him to embrace a life of "supervillainy" to make the world pay for its ignorance. Armed with a homemade paralytic spray, advanced chemistry knowledge, and a deeply flawed or perhaps insightful understanding of villainy, Eugene set out on a mission to claim Toronto as his playground, targeting The Vulpes as his arch-nemesis.
His first "crime" was robbing Brian Hunt, the owner of Geek to Go Hobbies in his home town, of an autographed hockey card. Despite the absurdity of the situation and his overly theatrical behavior, Eugene posed a genuine threat due to his intelligence and the chemicals he had concocted.
Eugene now drives the Groundhog Mobile, a modified station wagon adorned with brown carpet and cardboard to vaguely resemble a groundhog. He heads to Toronto with grandiose ambitions, fully convinced that he will become one of the world's greatest supervillains.   Personality: Eugene is a narcissistic, delusional, and socially awkward individual, driven by a deep-seated need for validation and recognition. He often sees himself as a misunderstood genius and views his rejection by society as a result of others' ignorance. Eugene is prone to grandiose monologues and dramatic poses, borrowing heavily from comic book villains in both demeanor and speech.
Despite his ridiculous appearance and over-the-top behavior, Eugene is dangerous due to his intelligence and chemistry skills, though he is largely unaware of his own limitations. His obsession with proving himself and becoming a famous supervillain borders on tragic, as it is clear that much of his behavior stems from a lifetime of rejection and mockery.
Eugene is deeply deluded, believing that he and The Vulpes share some form of romantic or sexual tension, though they have never met. His obsession with being a major player in the world of supervillainy drives him to make increasingly reckless decisions, all while remaining blind to the fact that much of what he does is seen as comical rather than threatening.
