Steller Man

Background:
Born and raised on a modest farm in Fairfield, Iowa, Jack Conway was a small-town boy with big dreams, growing up during the Great Depression. He lived a simple life, working the fields with his family and staying true to his Midwestern roots. Jack was hardworking, kind-hearted, and believed deeply in the American ideals of justice, fairness, and humility.
His life changed forever when, at the age of sixteen, he discovered a mysterious alien sphere in his family’s cornfield. The sphere, sensing Jack’s inherent goodness and worthiness, activated and infused him with the Power Stellar—an ancient cosmic force designed to protect the universe from interplanetary warlords and cosmic threats. The process bestowed him with incredible superhuman abilities and transformed him into the hero known as Stellar Man.
Upon receiving these powers, Jack became determined to use them to better the world. He and his high school sweetheart, Evelyn (Eve) Conway, moved to Los Angeles in 1938 in search of the American Dream. Jack initially kept his powers secret, working as a journalist and helping Eve pursue her dreams of becoming a costume designer in Hollywood. However, when tragedy and crime struck, Jack could no longer remain in the shadows. Donning a costume designed by his wife, he stepped into the public eye as Stellar Man, Earth’s first true superhero of the modern age.
Over the next few decades, Stellar Man became a global symbol of justice, saving countless lives and protecting humanity from all forms of threats—both terrestrial and cosmic. His influence extended well beyond the battlefield, as he spoke out for peace and morality, often clashing with political powers over controversial issues, especially the Nuclear Arms Race during and after World War II.
Stellar Man’s greatest moment came during the 1959 LGM (Little Green Men) invasion. In an act of ultimate sacrifice, he absorbed and redirected a massive alien bomb that would have destroyed New York City and much of the world. The energy nearly overwhelmed him, but Stellar Man used it to cripple the invading alien mothership and save Earth. However, he seemingly perished in the process, his body never recovered. Unknown to the public, his death was faked, and the US government secretly experimented on him during his time in recovery, using his abilities for their own purposes.
Despite Stellar Man’s sacrifices, his legacy was marred during the McCarthy era when he faced public scrutiny and accusations of communism for opposing the use of atomic weapons. Stellar Man’s trials highlighted the growing tensions between superheroes and the US government. Ultimately, however, he remained a symbol of hope and integrity until his supposed death.   Personality: Jack Conway, as Stellar Man, embodies the very best of human potential—courage, empathy, humility, and an unwavering sense of justice. Growing up in rural Iowa instilled in him a strong moral compass, which guides his every action as a hero. He is often seen as an idealist, believing that everyone deserves a chance to do the right thing, and that violence should always be the last resort.
His Midwestern values and humble origins shaped his deep sense of duty to protect the innocent and stand up for those who cannot defend themselves. Even after gaining near-godlike powers, he remains grounded, never seeing himself as above others. Stellar Man's sense of right and wrong is unshakable, even when faced with difficult moral dilemmas.
However, his idealism sometimes puts him at odds with the political climate, particularly during times of war and conflict. His staunch opposition to the use of nuclear weapons during World War II and his vocal criticism of the Cold War arms race painted a target on his back, leading to his persecution during the McCarthy era. He refused to compromise his beliefs, even when labeled a “communist sympathizer” by his detractors.
In his private life, Jack is a devoted husband to Eve, who remains his confidante and emotional anchor. Despite his incredible powers, Jack often struggles with the burden of being a hero, constantly worried about the people he can't save. But through it all, he holds onto hope, believing that his role is to inspire humanity to be better.
Though he ultimately sacrificed himself to save Earth, Stellar Man's legacy lives on, remembered as a symbol of what it means to fight for what is right, no matter the cost.
