Onça-Fantasma

Background:
Mateus Rocha was born in Salvador, Bahia, to an Capoeira mestre father and homemaker mother. His early life was deeply tied to the cultural traditions of Bahia, especially Capoeira, which his father taught as both a martial art and a cultural expression. Mateus grew up surrounded by music, discipline, and a strong sense of community.
When Mateus was 15, his father was murdered by a drug lord after refusing to pay protection money for his school. This event shattered Mateus’s world and forced him and his mother to flee to São Paulo to escape further retaliation. In the bustling metropolis, Mateus’s life was marked by hardship and adaptation. To cope with his grief and anger, he continued training in Capoeira and began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, blending the two disciplines into a unique and formidable fighting style.
By the time he was 20, Mateus tracked down the gang responsible for his father’s death and dismantled it, avenging his family. However, the experience left him hollow, and he realized that revenge was a fleeting satisfaction. Determined to rise above his pain, Mateus embraced a greater purpose: to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves and to stand as a beacon of hope for communities ravaged by crime and corruption.
Adopting the mantle of Onça-Fantasma, he became a ghostly figure of justice, feared by criminals and revered by the innocent. Using his unparalleled skills and intimate knowledge of urban environments, Mateus works tirelessly to dismantle crime syndicates, fight corruption, and protect the vulnerable.
  Personality:
Mateus is a disciplined and focused individual, his demeanor often calm and introspective. The loss of his father instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and a quiet determination to make the world a safer place. Though he operates from the shadows, Mateus is deeply compassionate, particularly toward the underprivileged and oppressed. He believes in empowering others, often mentoring at-risk youth through martial arts.
Despite his stoic exterior, Mateus carries a heavy emotional burden. He struggles with guilt over his initial quest for revenge and the violence he’s witnessed, which makes him cautious in his methods. His greatest fear is becoming the kind of person he fights against, driving him to hold tightly to his moral code.
