Multi-Tool
Background:
Harold Thompson was born in Denver, Colorado in the early 1950s, into a family with a strong tradition of military service and engineering excellence. His grandfather served as a combat engineer during World War II, and his father worked as an aerospace engineer, which instilled in Harry a fascination with technology from a young age. Harry showed an early aptitude for designing and building devices, taking apart household electronics to learn how they worked, and creating his own gadgets even before he reached his teenage years.
After high school, Harry attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he studied mechanical engineering and robotics. Following graduation, he was recruited by Wright Tech International’s American branch, based in San Francisco, to work on some of their most cutting-edge projects. Harry's dedication and innovation quickly earned him a senior position in the company, where he worked on designing and developing advanced tools and machinery for industrial, medical, and military use.
During the 1970s, as tensions escalated with super-powered threats and an increasing number of heroes emerged, Wright Tech's American branch began working on projects to assist law enforcement and superheroes. Harry, inspired by the idea of directly contributing to making the world a safer place, decided to use his knowledge and Wright Tech's resources to become a hero himself. Crafting an advanced suit and a variety of tools, he took on the mantle of "Multi-Tool," representing both his technical expertise and his dedication to helping others in any situation.
Multi-Tool made his first appearance as a hero during a crisis at a construction site in San Francisco, where an out-of-control piece of machinery threatened the lives of the workers. Using his prototype utility suit, Harry was able to disable the machine, repair the damage, and save several workers, quickly gaining attention for his ingenuity and heroics. From that day forward, he became known as Multi-Tool—the hero who could fix anything and adapt to any challenge, embodying the Wright Tech slogan, "The Wright Tool for the Job."
Harry’s commitment to using Wright Tech equipment exclusively in his crime-fighting endeavors set him apart as both an employee and a hero. He saw himself as an extension of the Wright family’s vision—using technology to help others, uplift communities, and ensure that progress was used for good. Whether working on a Wright Tech project to create a new medical device or using his suit to stop a runaway train, Harry’s dedication to making the world a better place was unwavering.
Personality:
Harry Thompson is a quintessential problem solver—pragmatic, intelligent, and driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the world. He embodies the principles of Wright Tech, valuing quality, innovation, and social responsibility in both his work and his life as a hero. He is highly resourceful, often approaching superhero situations the way he would an engineering problem, assessing the "variables" and creating solutions based on what he has at his disposal.
Harry is an optimist at heart, believing that technology, when used responsibly, has the power to improve lives and solve even the most daunting challenges. This belief drives his commitment to both his work at Wright Tech and his crime-fighting efforts as Multi-Tool. Unlike many heroes of his time, Harry prefers to take a more methodical approach, analyzing his environment and using his engineering skills to turn even the most hopeless situations to his advantage.
Despite his methodical nature, Harry has a strong sense of justice and is willing to take risks to protect innocent lives. He often uses his gadgets and engineering knowledge to rescue people from dangerous situations, such as collapsing buildings, malfunctioning machinery, or natural disasters. He takes pride in being able to do more than just fight villains—he wants to be someone who can build, repair, and protect, true to the spirit of the Wright Tech legacy.
Harry has a quirky sense of humor, often making puns and jokes about tools, gadgets, and engineering. He tends to be a bit of a perfectionist, especially when it comes to his equipment, and he can get lost in tinkering and improving his gadgets. However, he is also deeply compassionate, with a genuine desire to help others. He is particularly focused on mentoring young inventors and engineers, believing that the next generation of innovators will be key to building a better future.
