La Fleur Noire

Background:
Élise Quinn was born in a small town near Quebec City to Sophie Leblanc and Luc Quinn. Growing up, she idolized her father, who was once her hero—literally. Luc Quinn, a superhero gifted with plant-based powers after an industrial accident, could transform into a human-tree hybrid and grow to enormous sizes. Élise inherited his powers through the Meta-Gene, making her one of the naturally-born Extras.
However, when Élise turned fourteen, she learned a painful truth—her father wasn’t the hero she thought he was. Luc was a villain, a member of the radical French separatist group, Le Front de la Souveraineté Absolue (FSA), known for their extremist actions. His arrest by the superhero team North Force shattered Élise's image of him, and her mother divorced him soon after. Despite the betrayal, Élise still believes in the good within her father and visits him in prison, hoping to understand his choices.
Her strained relationship with her mother and emotional turmoil led her to dive into her passion for science, specifically botany, biology, and plant-based medicine. Her dedication and intelligence earned her a scholarship to Université Laval in Quebec City, where she continued to explore the powers she inherited while pursuing her academic goals.
While studying at Université Laval, Élise’s life took a dramatic turn. One day, her father contacted her from prison to warn her of an upcoming FSA attack on the university. Instead of running, Élise chose to fight. In her debut as La Fleur Noire, she single-handedly defeated a team of armed terrorists, capturing them alive for the RCMP. Her performance caught the attention of North Force, who offered her a place in their Junior Superhero Division. Although hesitant due to her father's history, Élise accepted the role and became a publicly known superhero.
Balancing her studies with the responsibilities of being a superhero has proven challenging, but Élise is determined to prove herself. Her impulsiveness and tendency to act without waiting for orders have gotten her into trouble with her handler, Agent Wilkes, but her results speak for themselves.
Personality: Élise Quinn, also known as La Fleur Noire, is a vibrant mix of intelligence, determination, and sharp wit. A true botanist at heart, she has a deep love for nature and plants, which fuels both her academic and superhero pursuits. While serious about her studies, she maintains a playful and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor, often lightening tense situations with a well-placed quip.
Her personality balances strength and empathy; she cares deeply about those around her and strives to protect not just people but also the environment. Despite insecurities about her complicated relationship with her father and her heritage as the daughter of a supervillain, Élise refuses to let her past define her future.
She exhibits a high level of self-awareness and is not afraid to admit mistakes, often narrating her flaws with humor. In battle, she is pragmatic and strategic, preferring to subdue enemies without excessive violence. Though her superhero identity is demanding, she finds moments to unwind and maintain her sense of humor, using her bilingualism to express herself vividly.
