Background
Leo Marquez, now known as the Jack of Spades, started as a young street punk in Toronto with a knack for credit card fraud and theft. He lived for the thrill of stealing from the rich and powerful, but his luck ran out the day he unknowingly targeted Don Carmine Ruso of the Italian Mafia. In retaliation, Carmine ordered a savage punishment—Leo was beaten nearly to death with baseball bats and left for dead over a few thousand dollars, a brutal reminder of the consequences of crossing the Ruso family.
Shattered in body and spirit, Leo recovered only through the intervention of the Datajackers, who took him in. Not out of revenge, but out of a deep, paralyzing fear of the Ruso family, Leo joined the gang for protection. Blair Springhill helped him secure advanced bionic enhancements to restore his broken limbs and plastic surgery to reconstruct his shattered face. Now, augmented by technology and driven by fear, Leo has become one of Blair’s most trusted lieutenants, though the specter of Carmine Ruso still haunts him.
What started as neccisary bionic augmentation is becoming a growing addiction to body modification and the theft and aquistion of advanced cybernetics, it is only a matter of time before Leo becomes more machine than man.
Personality Leo is cautious, paranoid, and deeply fearful of the Ruso family, especially Don Carmine. His near-death experience left him with severe trust issues, and he’s always looking over his shoulder. Though he’s physically tough and more than capable in a fight, his confidence is often undermined by his trauma. He’s loyal to Blair Springhill because he sees the Datajackers as his only chance of survival in the criminal world, but he’s also pragmatic—he won’t hesitate to cut and run if he thinks it’s the only way to escape Carmine’s wrath.
Leo’s enhancements make him feel more powerful than ever, but deep down, he struggles with feelings of inadequacy. He knows he wouldn’t be alive without the Datajackers’ tech, and that dependency gnaws at him.
