Jūsōkō Aya
Background:
Aya was created nearly two decades ago by a brilliant but grief-stricken scientist who sought redemption after being labeled a supervillain. Following the tragic death of his daughter, the scientist turned his genius toward building Aya, infusing her with love, hope, and a chance to live out the life his daughter never had. Aya’s synthetic body is the most advanced of its kind, capable of mimicking human biological systems, and she was raised as a daughter rather than as a mere machine.
Designed to be a protector, Aya was trained in combat and emotional intelligence, allowing her to navigate both the battlefield and the complexities of human interaction. Over time, she joined the Japanese Defense Force’s Specials Unit, where she combats rogue artificial intelligences, supernatural entities, and high-level threats to Japan. Her relationship with Dr. Naomi Ishida, a scientist at the JDF who sees her as a daughter, has further developed her understanding of human emotions and individuality. Aya's daily life is a balance between protecting Japan and exploring her own sense of self, often seen shopping for clothing, enjoying the company of her Shiba Inu named Kumo, and grappling with existential questions.
Personality:
Aya is a deeply thoughtful and introspective individual, often reflecting on her purpose and identity as a synthetic being. She is driven by a profound sense of duty to protect others, instilled in her by both her creator and her own developing sense of self. Her compassion is genuine, and she values the relationships she’s formed, particularly with Dr. Naomi Ishida, who acts as a maternal figure in Aya’s life.
Aya’s emotional intelligence is one of her greatest strengths. Though she grapples with existential questions, such as the nature of her emotions and whether they are "real," she chooses to embrace these feelings as part of her identity. She finds comfort in activities that connect her with the human experience, such as shopping for clothing and caring for her dog, Kumo.
Despite her empathetic nature, Aya is a fierce protector in combat. She does not hesitate to put herself in harm’s way to defend those she cares about and has an unyielding sense of justice. Her growing relationship with Takashi Tachibana the Steel Samurai has also introduced her to more complex emotions, including admiration and affection, though she is still navigating what these feelings mean to her.
Aya is a symbol of the balance between technology and humanity, constantly striving to define herself not just by her programming but by her choices, experiences, and the connections she forms with those around her.
