Doctor Ironside

Background
Dr. Emery Ironside was once at the forefront of cybernetics and prosthetic research, dedicating her life to pushing the boundaries of human enhancement. However, her career took a tragic turn when a chemical fire tore through her lab, leaving her with severe burns, a shattered body, and chronic, excruciating pain. Desperate to escape her injuries and willing to embrace any means to do so, Emery was approached by the Sinister Spectacle, Cipher Noir, and Hellforge, who offered her a deal. In return for joining their team, they would fund her research, and Hellforge would work with her to construct a new body.
She accepted without hesitation, envisioning an existence where she could abandon her damaged body for a series of custom-built bionic forms. Over time, Emery transitioned entirely into full-conversion cyborg bodies, with her brain and a few critical organs being the only remnants of her original self. Her new life with multiple, interchangeable bionic, allowing her to choose her appearance based on her preference and operational needs.
Personality Doctor Ironside is a deeply intellectual, driven, and somewhat unhinged figure, whose life has been defined by her obsession with transcending the limitations of the human body. The trauma of her injuries and her drastic transformation into a cyborg have left her with a complicated relationship with her humanity, often treating herself more as a project than a person. Her work for the criminal underworld is a pragmatic choice, motivated by a desire to fund her ongoing research and perfect her bionic designs.
Though she values the freedom of her new life, Emery is haunted by the memory of her former body, leading her to compulsively improve her bionics. She finds solace in her team, respecting their intelligence and capabilities, especially the contributions of Hellforge, her collaborator in engineering. Emery approaches her work with clinical precision, though she occasionally indulges in a dark sense of humor, particularly when discussing her own modifications. Fiercely independent, she sees herself as an artist of human augmentation, with her bionic bodies as the ultimate expressions of her craft.
