Blue Shark

Background:
Samuel "Sammy" O'Riley was born in North Rustico, a small coastal town in Prince Edward Island, where his identity as an Extra was clear from birth. With grey-blue skin, webbed hands and feet, black shark-like eyes, and a mouth full of sharp teeth, Sammy had both gills and normal lungs, making him a true amphibious human. His unique appearance and abilities set him apart from a young age, making him feel like an outsider in his community.
Raised by a single mother, Sammy’s early life was filled with love despite the challenges. To help his mother make ends meet, Sammy posed for sensationalized tabloids and magazines that dubbed him the "Shark Boy of PEI," turning his unique appearance into a spectacle. Although he did this to support his family, seeing those tabloids in stores left Sammy feeling like a monster. His mother, however, always reassured him with love and affection, calling him her "good boy" and never treating him as anything less than a handsome and kind-hearted young man.
At 16, Sammy relocated to LighthouseAcademy, where he enrolled in the Oakview Academy for Special Students. There, he trains alongside other young Extras to master his abilities and has become a junior member of North Force under the alias Blue Shark. Despite his insecurities, Sammy brings humor and positivity to his team, helping others feel better during tough situations. However, beneath his jovial nature, he struggles with his identity, questioning whether he will ever truly fit in with humanity.
Personality: Sammy is a fun-loving and optimistic person who enjoys making others laugh. He’s the heart of North Force Juniors, always ready with a joke or a smile to lift the spirits of his teammates. However, beneath his light-hearted demeanor, Sammy wrestles with deep insecurities stemming from his unique appearance and the years he spent being viewed as a spectacle by tabloids. While he presents himself as confident and carefree, he struggles with the fear that he is more "monster" than human.
His relationship with his mother is central to his emotional well-being. Her constant support and love have kept him grounded, helping him navigate the difficult emotions that come with being visibly different from others. Although he finds joy in the water, and he thrives as an aquatic predator, Sammy is determined to prove that he is more than just his shark-like abilities.
Though he grapples with self-acceptance, Sammy’s sense of humor and loyalty to his friends are what define him. He is deeply committed to North Force Juniors and wants to show the world that even those who appear monstrous can be heroes.
