Bloody Mary

Background
Mary Waverly, now known as Bloody Mary, grew up amidst the grandeur of the Waverly family manor—a symbol of the Old South's fading glory. Raised among decaying wealth and strict societal norms, Mary was taught that her only worth lay in finding a suitable husband and maintaining her family's image. But Mary’s ambitions went far beyond the limitations imposed upon her by Southern high society. She craved power that went beyond wealth and comfort—she wanted control, knowledge, and an escape from the confines of her expected role.
Mary’s introduction to magic came when she played an innocent game of superstition: gazing into a mirror at midnight to glimpse her future husband. But instead of a future love, she summoned an ancient demon. Unafraid, Mary embraced the entity's presence and chose to learn from it. She made a pact, one that granted her forbidden knowledge and supernatural power, turning her into a prodigy of the dark arts. The demon, becoming her mentor, guided her into the arcane mysteries that transcended the mundane, and Mary quickly began to see the world differently.
Her pursuit of power led to terrible sacrifices. Mary poisoned her own parents to gain control of the family wealth. Longing for unparalleled beauty, she performed a dark ritual involving the sacrifice of runaway slaves, emerging with an ethereal beauty that no mortal could ignore. Thus, Mary Waverly transformed into Bloody Mary—a witch with unmatched command over mirrors and shadows, using them to control and manipulate others.
Eventually, Mary became entangled with a handsome but cruel man who played on her desire for companionship. Manipulated into love, she married him, only to learn of his infidelity and deceit. After discovering that he had squandered her wealth and betrayed her in every way possible, a violent argument broke out between them, igniting a fire in Waverly Manor. As flames engulfed the house, Mary found herself trapped beneath a fallen pillar. Facing a painful death, she used her magic to astrally project her spirit into a nearby mirror, escaping the agony of the flames but leaving her body to perish. Mary’s spirit, now severed from her mortal form, became trapped in the mirror realm, forever transformed into the vengeful spirit known as Bloody Mary.
Personality Mary Waverly is a woman of complexity and contradictions. Outwardly, she embodies the perfect Southern Belle—charming, graceful, and alluring. She moves with poise, speaks softly, and exudes an aura of refined elegance that draws people to her. However, beneath this polished facade lies a ruthless, ambitious, and deeply cunning spirit. Mary is willing to lie, cheat, and kill to achieve her goals, and she takes pleasure in wielding her power over others. She embraces her dark nature, showing no remorse for the lives she has taken or the suffering she has caused.
Mary's manipulative tendencies extend beyond magic; she is skilled at reading people and using their weaknesses against them. Though driven by ambition and vengeance, a part of Mary remains vulnerable—yearning for something she cannot fully grasp. There is a restless longing within her, a need for validation and recognition beyond her beauty and power.
Her hatred for the living, particularly men, stems from her betrayal by the husband who left her to die. She delights in making others suffer as she did, toying with her victims before ultimately ending their lives. Despite her cruelty, Mary possesses a deep intelligence and respects those who demonstrate true power. She is fascinated by individuals willing to embrace darkness as she did, often toying with them to test their resolve.
Bloody Mary is both the ambitious witch who desired greatness and the vengeful spirit who emerged from the mirror—a being of darkness, beauty, and relentless ambition. She navigates the world of the living as both hunter and hunted, driven by a deep thirst for vengeance and power that even death could not quench.
