Nilo Mendoza
Guv Nilo Mendoza (a.k.a. The Guv / The Scav)
Nilo Mendoza is a bit of an eccentric. He usually wears his coveralls or work shirts but he's been known to wear a Hawaiian shirt and shorts to work, even when it's freezing cold on the asteroid where the company is based.
He's also a genius when it comes to mechanical engineering and he's built up Ceresian Scavengers into a very successful business.
Nilo is a hard taskmaster who expects the best from his crew. He is often tired and grumpy, but he would do anything for his team. He has a heart of gold beneath his gruff exterior.
The Scav is always looking for the big payday, when he can restore and sell the best ship in the asteroid belt, but he has a habit of spending so much on the repairs he barely breaks even. He often talks with wistfulness about having worked as a chief engineer on an asteroid explorer and the adventures he went on. He often complains about being stuck on the asteroid and wanting to get back out into space, but he is always too focused on finding the next big payday.
The Scav is a man of his word and he always tries to do the right thing, unless it means putting himself in danger. He's a bit of a lone wolf, but he's always there for his crew when they need him. He hates negotiating prices and wages and will always walk away from the table and leave the negotiating to his old friend, Julio.
The Scav is always looking for new opportunities and ways to make his business more successful. He's a big dreamer but always thinks that he will get lucky with the next deal or the next ship he finds. His favourite thing is going out to the scrapyards of the asteroids, looking for old junk vessels and equipment to restore. He's always looking for the next big payday, but it often seems just out of reach.
