Prospero's Bluff
A large burg dominated by an old Dwarven mansion and an enormous oak tree that grows throughout the mansion and the burg beneath. Roots extend from the sides of the burg and aid in docking. The Mansion - once home to an old Dwarven Clan - is now repurposed as an inn and tavern for travelers of Strato 3.
Prospero's Bluff is named for the druid Prospero who at the end of his mortal life, arborified (is there a better term?) into a tree. Skilled druids are still able to commune with him (when he's willing - he does spend a lot of the day sleeping), but most of what he does is anchor/release ships when they dock; mostly a reflexive move of his root tips.

Meta:
Which Old Dwarven Family does this home belong to? I'm leaving that undecided so you can tie it in wherever. All the identifying marks have been tossed out by previous purveyors (and redecorated!). Happening x1 is a good opportunity to tie it in. NEED (maybe): (under what circumstances did prospero take this place? could have been his house (maybe he was outcast/pariah) or another house that was exploiting its serfs and he came in to end that.)Staff
Constance Anor (m, kin) and Basim Anor (m, elf). A Married couple that runs the place. They're not owners (no one is), but they lead the staff, which includes kitchen staff, housekeeping (Manu, Dwarf M), a renowned mechanic Kili Fritsi (dwarf, f), and Security (Galvan and SAGE).Rooms/Features
The trunk of the Tree dominates the middle of the grand staircase. It was once Prospero's Staff, which he merged-with to arborify. Roots and branches snake through the rooms (branches through the upper mansion rooms, and roots through the subterranean, smaller rooms that used to house serfs (though are much more humanely appointed now (and larger)). The Rules of Hospitality. Posted somewhere (NEED: to write probably)Secrets
Why Players Might Come Here
- It's is a place to find happenings/jobs in the skyseas
- a contact might want to meet here
- meta: when they're here, it's a great place to awkwardly bump into people they've encountered in the past. especially where some kind of hostility might have to simmer under the enforced rules of Hospitality
- they need a mechanic/repairs branches snake through the rooms (and he strangles poachers or people who harm the environment)
Happenings
- x1: an old dwarven family believes this is their ancestral home and wants you to go find proof. they have rumors of a hidden room that might not have been greeked.
- x2: Speaking to Prospero. Prospero is a very old druid, which means you might have reason to contact him for historical knowledge, or guidance on an ecological topic. Communication with him is *difficult*. Think Treebeard with Merry/Pippin.
- l1: barroom brawl. if the players aren't directly involved, then it's between pirates and companymen who have had direct conflict (and recently). Tension before the fight breaks out where the major players make themselves known, Security Steps in, and then take it from there.
- a ship in dock that the players might really want to sneak onto and steal from. That is against the rules of hospitality
Prospero's Bluff v.9
Role: a non-scalatoran, non-PortoRibellian outpost for people to stop for a couple nights. Mansion rooms and repairs can cost a lot, and you can't just stay there forever. but it's a place the players should be like "that was cool. lets stop-in the next time we're in the area"
