The Cathedral of the 12

On the opposite side of the Holy city from The Cathedral of the Vessel stands the The Cathedral of the 12.

Purpose / Function

As the second largest church in the Holy City it serves as a place of worship for the masses and as the Headquarters for the 12 Apostles. It also serves as the place for hosting many different minor events and holidays, specifically the ones dealing with the 12, and an overflow location for the major events hosted by the main church.
     The Cathedral also serves as the living quarters for the 12 and their closest subordinates and immediate family.

Alterations

When the cathedral was originally built it was much smaller in comparison to now. over the years as the significance apostles became more important the original building was turned in to the living quarters for the 12 and the much larger Cathedral was built nearby.

Architecture

The Cathedral is made up of a mixture of Marble, Granite, and Limestone. Its 20ft front doors are made from sturdy dark oak wood and steel supports. the outside walls are decorated in elaborate designs depicting some aspects of the tales relating to the 12. when you pass the doors in to the main room you are greeted by high ceilings painted with more legends and tales. The major supporting pillars all have statues depicting the original 12 and their associated attributes. The room itself is lit by the sun coming through the main doors and the elaborate stain glass windows that line the wall.
      Outside of the main building however, the rest of the complex is designed to look more like and function like a fortress.

History

Originally constructed by followers who decided that the apostles needed their own dedicated building for their contribution and devotion to the vessel. It eventually was visited frequently enough that it became a major land mark

Tourism

The Cathedral of the 12 is one of the most heavy trafficked buildings in the Holy City with tourists and pilgrims coming from all over to visit it and hear sermons. the area around the main building is full of Inns, restaurants, shops of all kind, and of course pop up stalls that take advantage of the naive tourists.
      The visitors to this location also hope that they will be lucky enough to see or even meet one of the Apostles. some of the stores and stall even brag about how Apostles have visited them in the past.
