Tutankhamun

Pharaoh of Mummies

Tutankhamun is a long deceased pharaoh of Kemet, known for his passionate veneration of the Kemetian pantheon. Most recently, however, he is known by only one title: the PHARAOH OF MUMMIES, an undead commander of an army of entombed Kemetian royalty and soldiers.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Due to the practices of Kemetian burial, Tutankhamun is extremely well-preserved for a corpse dead for over two centuries. Unlike zombies or skeletons, Tutankhamun and his army has retained most of their brain function in the necrotic revival. This means that Tutankhamun, despite being undead, is a very wise and intelligent general of his army, as well as very able-bodied for a resurrected corpse.

Special abilities

In his undeath, Tutankhamun is far more powerful than he was in life. He has taken to the art of Kemetian spellcasting to advance his power, gaining the ability of levitation. Additionally, Tutankhamun commands the wraps and bandages of his mummified form as if they were appendages, generating as much strength and dexterity with them as would an octopus with its tentacles.

Personal history

Life

Tutankhamun became pharaoh at 9 years old, in 132 AP, the youngest pharaoh in Kemetian history. He rose to power at a time of conflict, when land battles raged between Kemet and the neighboring kingdom of Nambagua. Tutankhamun’s greatest achievement was the reversal of his father’s legacy, that being the establishment of a monotheistic religion in the worship of Aten, and the consequent outlaw of worship of the traditional Kemetian pantheon. Tutankhamun reversed all of that, abandoning Aten and restoring veneration of the Kemetian pantheon. However, his rule was short-lived, dying to officially unknown circumstances in 147 AP. Although, many believe he was murdered by his successor, known as Horemheb, who later removed both Tutankhamun’s and his father’s name from Kemetian records, which is largely why his tomb remained undiscovered for centuries.

Undeath

Keeping with Kemetian views on the afterlife, the body of Tutankhamun was preserved through mummification, as with other deceased members of his royal class and a multitude of soldiers. The Kemetians believed that the body must be preserved as it was the house of the soul, which must be preserved and entombed for the soul’s passage into the afterlife. However, this belief has one caveat; should the pharaoh’s mummified corpse be disturbed, the soul would be ripped from the afterlife and returned to its deceased body.   Wildeburnian archaeologists discovered the Tutankhamun’s tomb in 402 AP, eventually unearthing his mummified corpse and violating his sarcophagus. Unbeknownst to these archaeologists, they have become victim to a curse known by many names. The Pharaoh’s Curse, as most know it, leads to the eventual death of any violators of Kemetian tombs. Of the team of 12 people who unearthed Tutankhamun’s tomb, every single one died of illness, an accident, or some other seemingly mundane cause within the following weeks.   With Tutankhamun’s soul returned to his body, he had no way to return to the afterlife. On the first day of the excavation, the Wildeburnian team left the mummy in the sarcophagus, for extraction the following day. But on the morning of the second day, every mummy within the tomb was gone. In the dead of night, the god of terror known as Hallow, Lord of the Undead, filled the tomb with necrotic energy, raising the mummies into their undeath. To Tutankhamun, Hallow proposed that he aid him in his quest against mankind as one of his Knights. Tutankhamun accepted, as he, too, wished for vengeance across those who would violate a sacred place of burial, robbing him of his place in the afterlife. In 402 AP, Tutankhamun became the Pharaoh of Mummies, commanding his army of undead from across all of Kemet as a Knight of Hallow.
