Vélmennism
Followers
Known as: Vélmennians, Vélmennists Insulted as: Perfectionists, Cultists Vélmennism is a smaller religion that is often referred to as a cult due to its size, tenets, beliefs, and actions. They accept all with open arms, no matter their race, gender, or age, as long as they are willing to devote their life to the search of perfection.Beliefs
Perfection
Vélmennians believe that perfection is achievable, and that all should devote their lives to the task of seeking it. They also believe that the platonic solids (tetrahedron, hexahedron, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron) are an example of perfection, but only in their ideal, smooth, unblemished, perfectly equal form. The Gods
One of the beliefs of Vélmennism is that gods are simply mortals who, through some means, became immortal. They do not have any higher power, or control over the world, they simply exist alongside those who are mortal.Places of Worship
Vélmennians gather anywhere: Rooms of an inn, unoccupied bars, lonely alleys, and wherever they can discuss their beliefs without being interrupted by others.Annual Meetings
Every year, Vélmennians meet at a spot that has been deemed "perfect" by their council of elders. The location of this spot is passed by word of mouth to every Vélmennian, without any others being allowed in. The meetings are said to be very secretive and go on for days. What the Vélmennians do there is unknown.Manner of Worship
Search of Perfection
While every Vélmennian seeks perfection, they all do it in different ways. Some go on long quests to far away lands to seek natural perfection, while some spend days carving down wood cubes to perfect equal lengths. Some try to convince others to join the search, while some stick to the Vélmennians they respect and actively shun the rest.Views on Other Religions
Because Vélmennians believe that gods are not higher powers, they actively shun most religions that believe that gods created or control the world. However, some Vélmennians do follow the Way of the Spirits, as Wayists believe that only the spirit of an object can control that object, and none of their tenets say anything about gods.. Gameplay: Players can not play as Vélmennians, due to the absences the annual meetings create. However, players may (and will) encounter Vélmennians wherever they go, and may accidentally stumble across their meeting points.Do you wish to join the search for perfection?
