Lanal - Goddess of Peace, Good Harvests, and Fertility

Bless us, O’Lanal and this, Thy harvest, which you bestow, through your mercy.

Gameplay:   Followers of The Old Gods have the most diverse set of beliefs and gods on the Sword Coast. As such all religious classes (clerics, paladins, and druids) are open to them. Listed below, in order of importance, are the most important deities in the pantheon, but there are too many to list. You may choose one of them as your character’s deity, or you may design your character’s deity and religion. If you wish to play as a follower of The Old Gods, work with your DM to design your character’s beliefs and the nature of the religion and the god(s) she serves.   A Note to Players: There is a lot of room for players develop their characters' religious beliefs and to expand on the brief summaries of each deity presented below. Players are invited to help expand or ammend what is written below.

Beliefs:

Lanal has no holy books, no grand message. She simply listens to the prayers of her petitioners for healthy births and bountiful harvests. Followers of Lanal believe that when all have enough to eat that peace will be brought to the land.

Clergy:

Her clergy are tasked with bringing fertility to the land and ensuring the safety of women and children. Her clergy are highly trained agriculturalists, midwifes, and healers. The priests of Lanal teach farmers how to raise bountiful crops, how to reclaim swamp lands. Priestesses act as nurses, widwives, and healers.

Paladins:

Temples of Lanal have no fighting force (no paladins), however they will often have a close relationship with the temples of Sarak, Lord of Justice. These temples of Sarek will often assign a detachment of paladins to the temple of Lanal as a protective measure, if the temple or its clergy are under threat. These paladins swear themselves to the will of Lanal, and wear a combination of Lanal’s and Sarek’s colors.

Place of worship:

Many farming villages on The Sword Coast have erected a humble chapel to Lanal. She also has larger temples that act as education and training centers for her clergy.

Characterization:

A beautiful peasant woman, with child.

Worshippers:

Farmers, herders, and expectant mothers.

Rival:

Bane, God of War
