Erathis - The Great Engineer

God of Invention

Gameplay: Followers of The Old Gods have the most diverse set of beliefs and gods on the Sword Coast. As such all religious classes (clerics, paladins, and druids) are open to them. Listed below, in order of importance, are the most important deities in the pantheon, but there are too many to list. You may choose one of them as your character’s deity, or you may design your character’s deity and religion. If you wish to play as a follower of The Old Gods, work with your DM to design your character’s beliefs and the nature of the religion and the god(s) she serves.   A Note to Players: There is a lot of room for players develop their characters' religious beliefs and to expand on the brief summaries of each deity presented below. Players are invited to help expand or ammend what is written below.

Beliefs:

Erathis is the father of gnomes, and the patron of engineers. Erathis gifted the gnomes with the knowledge to build the first walled city and how to build the first forge. The gnomes then taught the rest of the races of The Sword Coast. Erathis has few commands, he simply provides inspiration to those who wish to build and invent.

Place of Worship:

Every rock and forest gnome home has an altar to Erathis and every gnomish village or city has a temple dedicated to him. Erathis has great temples in many of the other cities The Sword Coast, particularly in cities that prize learning and invention. Also, an altar to Erathis is a common site in the shops of smiths and other builders.

Characterization:

Erathis is always protrayed as an older gnomish male holding tools in his workshop.

Worshippers:

gnomes, some dwarves, smiths, artificers, inventors, engineers, city officials, bureaucrats

Rivals:

The Four and Calrig - the Chaos
There has got to be a better way to do this.
